Tunisian Crochet 101
Where the rhythm of knitting meets the structure of crochet.
Discover the dense, woven texture of this hybrid fiber art. In this small-group class, we'll start with the foundational Tunisian Simple Stitch. Once you're comfortable, you can try the Tunisian Knit, Purl, and Reverse Stitches. You'll leave with a practice swatch or the start of your own washcloth or coaster set.

Skill level
Beginner to Tunisian. You should know how to chain and single crochet.
What to bring
A 6mm Tunisian crochet hook
Smooth, light-colored worsted-weight (4) cotton yarn. Acrylic is fine if you just want to practice.
Scissors and a tapestry needle
Need a hook, yarn, or both? Add the Supply Bundle when you register (additional cost).

I've taught crochet and Tunisian crochet through Mt. Diablo Adult Education's Lifelong Education program since 2024. I love to explore and experiment with stitches, and I often create my own designs. For me, the stitching itself is the point: it's meditative, it's offline, and it quiets my busy mind. In class, I want you to leave with the tools and know-how to keep going on your own. And if you make a "mistake," chances are you've just discovered a different technique. Learn more about me.
